So, the thing at the Albert Whitted Airport was a party for the pilots who flew in the air show yesterday (they're at it again today - F-15's make quite a sound going over your house!). It was fun to sing with the band although we got virtually ignored for the first hour and a half. After our break, the folks were more interested in relaxing than catching up with their friends, and so they actually pulled up a chair and gave it a listen, and to no one's surprise they had a blast, and even were participating in a few songs at the end. It was a lot of current and former Air Force people. John writes all his own music (he HATES doing covers), but we had more than one request for "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling". We might as well have played "Flight Into The Danger Zone", if we wanted to go that far into the cliche of Top Gun memories. After our last song they were REALLY into it... the John Kelly Band always leaves 'em wanting more. I managed to sing despite the fact that I couldn't hear ANYTHING due to the congestion in my head. And the guys said it sounded good, all of us together. However, I sang so much that this morning I was too hoarse to sing at church! Good thing Jen was there to sing those parts I normally do.
At any rate, it was fun. Henry is feeling better and we're waiting for Timon to come home from the men's retreat. Then I'm going to make Henry's Halloween costume (Curious George!) and take it easy. Be well, my friends.
