twenty

Someone told me something today. Not to brag, but it's not the first time I've heard this, but each and every time I do it baffles me. "You and Timon sure do an amazing job with those two."

The reason I pause whenever someone says this is because I really, truly don't know what it is we're doing that's so different from how other people parent. I have to give much of the credit to the temperament Henry (and so far, Maria, too) was born with. They're flexible, happy, and easy-going. Are we really doing anything extraordinary? I don't think so. But it's nice to hear that people think we're doing a good job.

**this post may come back to bite me in the rear end in about 10-15 years**

Good! I think it could just be how so few parents seem to actually parent their children these days.
