enough already

I am SO done with heat, humidity, and hot weather. I find it completely unbearable to set foot outside - from the time I get up at 7-ish, until I go to bed around 10:30, the temperature and heavy air are thoroughly intolerable. There are only two seasons in Florida: Hot (March-November), and Slightly Less Hot (December-February). People from places that actually have 4 distinguishable seasons always complain to me about wintry weather, and act all jealous about our "winter" of 60 degrees and sunny. They don't understand that those few precious months of tolerable weather are our only reward for suffering through the quite literal hell that is the Florida heat. A friend of mine (who was raised in Florida - our the place I like to call, "Just a few miles from the Equator") ACTUALLY said to me yesterday, "I felt a little breeze and I could smell fall in the air." Now this friend is VERY dear to me and I love her like a sister, but that is the most ABSURD and RIDICULOUS statement ever made. There is NO scent of fall when the temperature is 90 and the heat index is 98. The weather forecasters here regularly use a "COOL" graphic on the evening forecast if it's supposed to be below 85. There is something really wrong with that. Besides, when it is cold, one can always add another layer of clothing and be more comfortable. There comes a point when it's just hot and one must stop taking one's clothes off. When you're confined to your house, and get uncomfortably sweaty walking the 25 feet from the house to the car, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Give me cold, snow, sleet, wind, and temps in the 40's any day.
